In our recent conversation with Anna Tullgren, fundraising manager at World Child Cancer, she said “We are very pleased that Chigwell Tours are taking part in this walk in aid of World Child Cancer. September is childhood cancer awareness month, where we will focus on four pillars: nutrition, family support, mental health, and support to others.”
As the children are heading back to school after the long summer break, education becomes a focus for many. During this month, World Child Cancer will focus on four pillars: nutrition, family support, mental health, and support to others. Furthermore, they will provide additional help to people who are fundraising to support their work. World Child Cancer is one of the two charities we are raising funds for in our fundraising walk. They tackle childhood cancer in low income and developing countries across Africa, Asia, and Central America.
In Ghana, an estimated 1,525 children develop cancer each year and just one in five survive. World Child Cancer is raising awareness of childhood cancer early warnings to parents and frontline healthcare staff, improving quality of treatment and care, and directly supporting families. From June 2022 to March 2023, 933 children benefitted from accessing improved paediatric oncology services in Ghana as a result of their programmes.
