The annual Lux Afrique Polo Day once again delivered an unforgettable celebration of African excellence, elegance, sport, culture, and community. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Hartwood Polo Club in Surrey, this prestigious event brought together over 3,000 guests for a day filled with style, entertainment, and world-class polo.

Chigwell Tours & Visits’ guests were chauffeured to the place by Motoroo Go.

Often described as the African equivalent of Ascot, Lux Afrique Polo Day has become one of the most anticipated events on the summer social calendar. Guests arrived dressed in their finest fashions, creating a vibrant display of colour, creativity, and sophistication across the venue. Premium silver, gold, and platinum enclosures overlooked the immaculate polo grounds, while guests enjoyed fine food, refreshing drinks, and excellent company throughout the day.

Now in its eighth year, the event benefited from glorious July sunshine and a gentle summer breeze that encouraged visitors to explore every aspect of the experience. From luxury exhibitions and fashion showcases to African and Caribbean cuisine, live entertainment, and cultural displays, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

The atmosphere was electric from the moment the gates opened until the official close at 6pm, before many continued the celebrations at the renowned after-party. Friends reunited, new connections were made, and guests from Black British, African, Caribbean, and wider diaspora communities gathered to celebrate culture, achievement, and shared experiences.

Music played a central role in creating the event’s vibrant atmosphere. DJs masterfully blended Afrobeats, Highlife, Soul, Reggae, Soca, Jazz, and classic favourites, inspiring spontaneous dancing, singing, and moments of pure joy across the venue.

Of course, the highlight of the day remained the polo tournament itself. Spectators enthusiastically followed every match, cheering on their favourite players and teams. Between games, guests took the opportunity to socialise, sample the food offerings, capture memorable photographs, and visit the branded photo booths that were popular throughout the day.

One of the most memorable moments came during the presentation ceremony when Natasha, the tournament’s only female polo player, was named Best Player of the Day. Her exceptional skill, determination, and outstanding performance throughout the competition earned widespread admiration. As she raised her trophy beside a giant bottle of Magnum Champagne, the crowd erupted into enthusiastic applause. It was a proud and inspiring moment that perfectly captured the spirit of the event.

Another major attraction was the impressive display by the Black Classic Car Club, whose stunning collection of rare and beautifully maintained classic vehicles captivated enthusiasts and casual admirers alike. Guests had the opportunity to meet owners, learn the stories behind the cars, and celebrate a shared passion for automotive excellence.

The fashion showcases were equally impressive, featuring collections that ranged from bespoke occasion wear and contemporary fusion designs to elegant casual and evening attire. The runway celebrated diversity, confidence, and individuality, with models of different ages and body types demonstrating that style and sophistication have no limits.

Above all, Lux Afrique Polo Day continues to serve as a platform for showcasing the richness and vibrancy of African culture through fashion, cuisine, music, entrepreneurship, and sport. As the largest African polo event in Europe, it successfully combines luxury and culture in a way few events can match.

As the day drew to a close, guests departed carrying shopping bags, treasured photographs, and lasting memories. Around the car park and venue exits, heartfelt farewells could be heard everywhere, accompanied by a familiar phrase repeated time and again:

“See you next year!”

Judging by the smiles on departing faces, Lux Afrique Polo Day 2026 once again exceeded expectations and reinforced its reputation as one of the most distinctive and celebrated events on the European social calendar.
