The cost-of-living crisis is biting, as the days get colder and shorter, this time of year is the hardest for those who have very little food or supplies. It is estimated that 3.7 million accounts of children lives have been driven to poverty, and since the coming of COVID, this problem has inflated more than ever.
At Chigwell Tours and Visits we dedicated our 7th annual 10km fundraising walk in Hainault Forest to raise money to support families facing this crisis in our communities. 3Food4U – A charity that provides basic groceries and essentials to those in need and PAPA foundation – A charity that aids children, providing them with books, centres to do their homework and access to educational support.
We have made tremendous progress reaching our target of £2000 with donations still coming in.
Hainault Forest Country Park spans over 280 acres and dates to as far as the reign of Henry I in the 1130’s. Having its own zoo, golf course, lake, rope course and café, Hainault Forest Country Park has been an attraction to the public for many years.
Why Hainault Forest Country Park? It is a beautiful park that is close to our community and is a fun environment for us to do our fundraising walk for a worthy cause. The walk took place in the scenic nature of Hainault Forest Country Park, between 3 and 6pm by 15 enthusiastic walkers. Accompanied by perfect weather, it was a relaxing and enjoyable experience that went by quickly. After the walk had been completed, walkers were presented with certificates and interviewed to share their experiences. These interviews and pictures of the walk can be found on our website and social media.
In summary, the cost-of-living crisis has had an enormous impact on the quality of children’s’ lives and with our help we can give children a warm Christmas meal. Please support us in helping children live better lives this winter.
